WHAT IS LOW-E GLASS?

Low-E, or low-emissivity, glass was created to minimize the amount of infrared and ultraviolet light that comes through your glass, without minimizing the amount of light that enters your home. Low-E glass windows have a microscopically thin coating that is transparent and reflects heat. Low-E is required by law on new homes and will significantly help reduce energy costs.

WHAT ARE U-VALUES AND R-VALUES?

Both the R-Value and the U-Value are measurements that can tell you how much heat transfers through a material. The R-Value generally applies to the window glass while the U-Value applies to the entire window system. The higher the R-Value and the lower the U-Value means the more energy efficient a window is and the less energy you
will lose.

WHAT IS ARGON GAS USED FOR?

Argon gas is used to replace the air in between window panes to increase the insulation in that window. Argon and other gases like Krypton gas are inert which makes them safe and more resistant to energy transfer or loss. This makes it more difficult for cold or warm air to pass through your window so your home’s temperature stays more consistent year-round. Argon helps reduce sound transmission making your home quieter.

WHY DO WINDOWS SWEAT?

Often called "sweaty windows" the condition is the result of high humidity and low temperatures. Condensation on a window can block the view, drip on the floor, and freeze on the glass. Window condensation is simply the result of excess humidity, and the glass only provides a visible cool surface on which humidity can condense. Our windows have technologies to include warm edge spacer systems, and double or triple-pane glass with insulating gases that reduce
condensation so you don’t have to worry about foggy windows.
